VLC-Android-3.3.0-RC-1 - Internet Radio Streams Stopped Working

I use VLC Android as my internet radio player. I have my own created M3U and XSPF playlists of internet radio streams. These new Release Candidates these last few days have broken internet streams! Don't release it! The betas before the RCs worked okay. But RCs broke internet streaming!

What do you mean by "it broke it"?
Can you please describe what doesn't work? if possible with samples.

VLC gives a toast popup for each item saying for example "The location http://ice1.somafm.com/bootliquor-128-acc cannot be played."

This wasn't happening just like 8 days ago.

Neither .xspf nor .m3u playlists are now working.

Also if you take any of those streaming radio urls and put them in the "New stream" area of VLC Android , they won't play there either on RC1 nor RC2. The VLC on fdroid and GPlay that will work though.

Confirmed, same issue for me while the same audio streams are playing fine with other players.
And video streams are not working either.
Tested on Android 10 only.

My phone was updating 5th August, after few hours updated VLC, then started problems with streaming, but video streaming still YouTube option share with: in VLC isn't supported (VLC wouldn't start). Something happened with Android 10 permissions.

Then I tried it again and opened it with current stable release of VLC. Played just fine with it.

It seems that you are trying to play a local file. If the playlist file has been copied from another phone and the .mp4 file is not on this phone at the exact same path, it won't work.

But why would it work on stable VLC then?

Also I think this could be related to intents from local files not working in nightly also:

The example shown on that page ( https://wiki.videolan.org/Android_Player_Intents/ ) isn't working in RC4 nightlies with device files. It works fine with internet audio streams. But:

I just tried and it seems to work well here. What error do you get?

I've just tried with the official v3.3.0 RC4 (3.2.92) and most video streams are now playing fine, but some other ones still don't and the Arte stream is one of them.

Error message: "The location http://artelive-lh.akamaihd.net/i/artel ... aster.m3u8 cannot be played."
It comes instantly, as if the phone was offline.

There are other URLs which don't work but I'll send you those via PM.
All of these URLs are playing fine with other players and with VLC v3.2.x.

Android 10 stock ROM, Samsung One UI 2.0.

I bet it's the same issue with the ? in the other URLs I gave you.
It worked with older versions.
