"Pause and resume iTunes" Not Working in Catalina

Hello,

I recently updated from Mojave to Catalina (10.15.3) and noticed that, with the change from the "iTunes" app to the new "Music" app, the "Pause and resume iTunes / Spotify" feature (Preferences > Interface > Main interfaces > macosx) no longer works (i.e., when the "Music" app is playing a song and I open a video in VLC, the "Music" app doesn't pause automatically).

Is anyone aware of a fix or workaround for this issue? Or could it be an issue that is specific to my computer?

This has been fixed already for an upcoming VLC v3.0.9, which should be released in the next weeks, hopefully.

Catalina does not ship iTunes anymore but a new "Music" app, so the old way we controlled iTunes does not work 1:1 here, anymore.

I have been keeping an eye on this issue but it only seems to have been partially resolved. The "pause" function works (as of v3.0.9) but the "resume" function does not (as of v3.0.11). In other words, if the "Music" app is playing a song and a video is opened in VLC, the song does pause successfully. But when VLC is then quit, the song does not resume automatically (which used to be the case).

Is there any chance this will be corrected or is this now expected behavior (if so, it may be best to remove "and resume" from the name of the setting)?

Are you sure you selected the right setting in the preferences panel? VLC should support both modes.

Thanks for cross checking again, and thanks for the report. Indeed, there is a small copy paste error in the code causing this issue.

It will be fixed in the next update.
