Can't seek first 30 seconds of specific FLAC file

Postby pintassilgo » 24 Jul 2020 06:32

I listen to thousands of legit flacs on VLC, but today I noticed a strange bug when playing one of them. For sure it's not to blame the file, since this bug is exclusive to VLC, it isn't reproducible on fb2k or PotPlayer.

If I play the file normally, OK. But if I try to seek to 00:03, for example, VLC skips to 00:22. If I seek to 00:10, VLC skips to 00:32. If I seek to 00:20, VLC skips to 00:48. I need to seek at least to 00:31 for VLC to do it right, without skipping to unwanted time. Song length is 07:37 and the bug is exclusive to the first 30 seconds, VLC can seek accurately to any time from 31 seconds onwards.

Remembering: it's a legit flac file, not a poor ogg that you can't seek accurately. VLC doesn't have this problem with other flacs. And this same flac file can be seeked accurately between 00:00 and 00:30 on other players.

VLC 3.0.11, Windows 10.

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

https://wetransfer.com

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 35#p193335
100 MB max should be enough.

Might be related since this file has about 18 seconds of silence at the beginning:
