Hello,
I’m an happy user of VLC on my Kindle Fire HD 10 but, currently, I’m experiencing a blocking issue.
I heavily use the automatic subtitles download feature but, suddenly, it stopped working if the video file is stored on a SD card.
When I tap on the button to download the subtitle, I quickly see the icon spinning and the download notification being displayed at the top, but after a few the notifications goes away and the icon returns normal.
If I explore the SD card storage with ES File Manager, I can’t see any .srt file there.
If, instead, I move the same exact file in the internal memory and I try the operation again, I can see the “OK” icon appearing at the end of the download and the subtitle being loaded correctly.
It looks like a permission issue but:
1) It’s the first time I face it since I started using VLC for Fire
2) Since Kindle Fire isn’t running standard Android, I don’t find a way to change the permissions of the app
The only information I can see is that the application is indeed requesting permissions to read and write from the SD card when I install it from the Fire Store.
I’m using version 3.2.12.
