I'm having a problem playing an MKV file containing SSA subtitles. Only the first line of subtitle is displayed followed by audio/video without text. Togging subtitles off then on does not fix the issue but if I pause the video at any point, toggle subtitles off/on, then resume, again exactly one line of subtitle corresponding to that point of the video will display followed by audio/video only.
I've tested the same file across the following players with mixed results.
- VLC (Win, Linux, Android) - Same as described above
- Kodi (Android) - Same as VLC but seeking anywhere in the video will display one line of subtitle from that point without having to pause/resume.
- MX Player - Subtitles displayed normally
- CX File Explorer built-in video player - Subtitles displayed normally
Based on the above, I assume VLC and Kodi use the same subtitle library (libass?) and the others don't.
The file is an MKV container transcoded by Handbrake from MP4 with subtitle passthrough, if that helps.
