How can I record a whole video file ?

How can I record a whole video file ?

Postby vlc-user » 16 May 2020 19:45

I recently learned that VLC can record anything it can play and I would like to use this feature to fix my broken mpg files. They play fine, but skipping backward does not work. Analyzing the files, I found out that the audio stream has broken headers. Video stream is fine.

However, I don't know how to start the recording from the beginning of the mpg. Even when I click on "record" before "play", the first few seconds are missing in the output.

Is there some trick ?
Thanks and Regards,
Markus

I have the same issue... Shame there isn't an answer to this. I found some old threads from years ago with users reporting the same issue.

Use the record / conversion wizard, not the record button, for that.
