Incorrect Pixel Size on 720:480 Playback

Postby wafaf313 » 07 Jun 2020 23:40

I have some old SD videos that were recorded in 720:480. They seem "stretched" when playing in VLC. When I force the aspect ratio to 4:3, they appear correct. I did some research, and apparently this has to do with non-square pixels, or some such? Is there any way to force this 720:480 profile to this aspect ratio, or is it some bug where the video format is not being properly interpreted? The frame rate is 29.97 and decoded format is Planar 4:2:0 YUV. Maybe there is a way to force a particular decoding aspect ratio based on codec? Thank you!

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of an original problematic file to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.
