Missing UPnP entries from Panasonic UPnP device

Postby Entauni » 13 Apr 2019 22:39

Hi,

I have recently bought a Panasonic DMR-UBT1 HDD Recorder which has two Numerical TV tuners.
I realized that I can see the channel on my iMac computer (OSX 10.14.4) by using VLC.
It works pretty well as the Panasonic device is recognized in the local network through the UPnP Local Network area.
Unfortunately, the channel list is uncomplete : only the 12 first channels are visible.
I do not know how see the other ones ! Can someone help me ?
(I am using VLC 3.0.6 Vetinari (Intel 64bit)

Thanks

Might be related to https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/15876, otherwise, it's probably difficult to debug without a network dump.

I have the exact same issues, but more :?
My Panasonic DMR-PWT550 doesn't list all DLNA content, like recordings and channels in VLC. It does list a couple of recordings and channels, but not all of them. This is on Windows 10 Pro v1809 x64, got the same results on Windows 7 too.

The most bizarre thing though, is that VLC 2.1.4 (and 2.1.5) are the ONLY versions that list all content for me. Do note though, it takes a few minutes for the UPnP device to list its contents in 2.1.4 (you may have to double-click the UPnP entry quite a lot)

Quite interestingly, you can see the cut-off point for the channel list. For some reason, VLC doesn't list all the entries. Other newer DLNA client software give similar results (except for Windows Media Player), so I think this may be due to DLNA standards and specifications being changed over time.

Any one seeing this forum thread? I know this bug has been fixed before, if it is truly a bug.

Hello
I'm from France. Seems that this subject is close to my problem.
I've a Panasonic DMR-PWT500 recorder, DLNA server. I've VLC installed on a WIN7 PC. On local network, using VLC, I can access to PWT500 video records by clicking UpNp. It works with VLC V2.2.8, however, sometime I have some freezing.
So, I tried differents versions 3.0x, up to 3.07, and when clicking UpNp, nothing happen, even after several minutes waiting. Any thoughts?

Same here! I get freezing sometimes, it takes a few tries to get all the DLNA content showing at all most of the time.
The main issue I think is that it was "fixed" a while ago, but then came back as a regression. VLC doesn't load more than a certain amount of content, so it has to do it in batches (if I recall correctly).

I confirm the Situation with truncated lists on Universal PnP in 2 aspects (I'm Streaming from a Panasonic TV as DLNA-server), when using VLC Version 3.0.8:
1) The list of "recorded TV" is truncated to only 20 entries (although there are >100 recordings)
2) Also the list of received TV-stations is truncated to 20 entries, whereas we receive > 100 stations via cable.

Strange, that the older Version 2.0.7 doesn't have this Problem - the lists mentioned above display all recorded entries and also all received TV stations.
So my proposal to the developers would be to have a look into Version 2.0.7 concerning the lists generated unter Universal pnp and to remove this bug in the current Version.

Hi,

I've been so sorry to note that the newest version 3.0.10 did NOT solve this bug. Only twenty videos still appear from my Panasonic GT60 series TV set, although 6 TB of USB disk videos are in-line!
Despite of my right to locally and privately record legally received TV broadcasts, VLC doesn't seem to allow copying the files to a local disk (directly attached or private network disk).

Nor was VLC 2.1.5 been able to **even** open the DLNA TV attached disk and display the table of contents despite what I read above.

When will these features be restored / implemented?

Anyone solved this?

I am trying to access my DMR-BWT735 with VLC via Windows 10 but am having similar problems to those posted above. Interestingly, as I have posted elsewhere in this forum, I can use an app called 8player pro on both my iPhone and iPad, although what the difference is I do not know between that an VLC.

I just wonder if there is some option/switch in the commands sent to the uPNP device for which the default is 20 items. After all, when you access the list of recordings on the TV screen, it only lists some and hence not all in one go; scrolling lists the others. If 20 items is the default, I wonder if there is some other value or switch setting to retrieve the complete file directory in one go, as per, for example, Windows Explorer and Media Player.

I tried many different versions of VLC, including those listed by posters above, but none seemed to produce the desired response.

Just to add: Before posting the above about VLC, I had tried Kodi, but had no success; the last time I used Kodi it was called XBMC! Tonight I tried it again; perhaps the long pauses I thought earlier were application crashes, were just the time taken to obtain the directory list, which they were. So access and playing seems to be OK with Kodi. Now a lot of Kodi is written in python, so it may be possible that the uPNP commands are visible in python. Hence, while probably beyond my capability, it may be possible to tell VLC what the problem, and hence correction, is. (very hopefully...)

A little bit more: adding playercorefactory.xml to Kodi, with path to VLC added, allows VLC to be used as the Kodi player. I am now able to play recordings from my DMR-BWT735 on VLC and record them to my laptop.

I too have a DMR-BWT735. What version of Win10 are you on? For me, current versions (with Media Streaming switched on) see the Pana as a media device and can retrieve full listings and download SD (not HD) recordings. Early versions did not, so I used VLC 2.0.8 (later versions were broken) but I do not need it now. I'm only looking here now as I've set up a new PC and VLC 2.0.8 isn't working on it (in case ever needed). But it looks hard work to use any version of VLC so I'll rely on Win10.
