Converting to AMF format?

I've been using VLC for at least a decade, and I've never found a video format it can't handle.

Until now.

My kids were gifted some small cheap MP3 players with video support. But the only video format they support is called AMV. I couldn't find out much about it, except for this Wikipedia page:

I'd love to be able to convert videos to AMV for use on the players, but if VLC supports AMV, I can't find it.

Am I missing something, or is the AMV format unsupported?
