parsing .cue files

Postby breadmoth » 20 Jan 2019 18:14

So my question is why cannot the Android version parse .cue files like its Windows and Linux counterparts? I have a lot of .cue and single flac files, and I do not feel like splitting them up. This should be a simple feature, yet VLC on Android plays the file as one giant file and ignores the information in the .cue file. Why can't the Android version of VLC properly support .cue files?

Because we never supported correctly cue files on Windows and Linux. We'll improve that, and fix that in the future, and it will be on Android too.

Thats a good sign. Hopefully this will be available in a point release and I won't have to wait for VLC 4.0 or something. I ripped at lot of discs into single .cue + flac files, and of course my audio player on Linux has no problems parsing cue files. I hope this feature will be coming in the very near future.

Because we never supported correctly cue files on Windows and Linux.

That said, when playing say a CD rip FLAC + CUE, VLC for Windows is able to change, switch and jump from track to track, whilst VLC for Android just can't do this basic operation and always rewinds to the beginning of the FLAC file when you tap on Next or Previous.
So, if it's possible on Windows I guess it shouldn't be that hard to do the same on Android, right ? ;-)

VLC for Android does not support Lua scripts, does it? Does it support playlists (m3u) with start-time stop-time VLC options? Ttry to save the cued playlist in computer, then try to use it in VLC for Android.

This is a nightmare.
I've spent hours looking for an android player compatible with cuesheets. I need that and I need the player to stop after each track... Is it too much to ask? Yet vlc is not compatible with cuesheets, and no android player seems to care to stop after each track :-( SAD
Please add this function... Can we have a bug bounty? I want to pay for this function because I'm really tired of searching... thanks for taking this into consideration.
