Stay Maximized

It never stays maximized after I close the application, so I need to resize it over and over and over and over again. It's completely frustrating! I have toggled and untoggled every option in the Video section of VLC Preferences. Help! For sure, you'd think that "Start in Fullscreen" would work, but it doesn't. I have ensured that the window was maximized before closing it when testing it. Please note that (1) I am on a 2010 iMac 27" desktop with Version 3.0.8 Vetinari (Intel 64bit) of VLC and (2) I am not a techie and can't code (I can't even figure out how to attach a screenshot to this ticket). Thank you.
