Copy sout chain from Record Button

How can I see what options VLC sets for the sout chain when hitting the record button in the GUI? I've tried using the logfile with the various verbosity settings and all I can find is a line indicating the recording was started and the corresponding filename. In fact, doing a search for "sout" in the logfile returns zero hits.

I need to start a recording from the command line and it seems my command works differently than when I hit the record button. I'd like to replicate the record settings when hitting the "record" button.
