Ability to side-load apps?

Will VLC ever get this feature?

As of now most people use shady apps (that are often removed from Play or come with malware) to side-load apps on Android/AndroidTV/Firesticks..

It would be nice to have a universal FOSS app like VLC that would let us side-load 3rd party apps.

VLC is on Play Store, and you can download it from https://get.videolan.org/vlc-android/
