2002 .Mov file "Codec not supported"

Postby ioldanach18 » 07 Feb 2020 16:07

Hi All,
I'm trying to open an old quicktime .mov made back in 2002. I've tried quicktime, vlc, handbrake, avc, adobe encoder. None of them are able to open the file. This is the error I receive.

Codec not supported
VLC could not decode the format "601N" (No description for this codec)

Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

you could try IINA, movist, MPlayer OSX Extended, mpv, qt player 7, or graphicconverter

Obscure proprietary stuff no one wants to spend time to reverse engineer

https://trac.ffmpeg.org/ticket/959
https://samples.libav.org/V-codecs/601P/

Try loading the Qt blob with mplayer, at your risk
:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

you really don't want help, you just want to be adversarial!
