File streaming packet loss

Postby vektor » 07 Feb 2020 13:14

Hello.

I am currently trying to stream an .mp4 video (without transcoding it in VLC) over RTSP protocol to an IPTV/DVB-T modulator.

Basically it works, in general, but the packet loss is huge. If i'm streaming a 360p 1000kbps video then the packet loss is small, but still present, however when i'm streaming bigger video, like 720p 2500kbps (or bigger) video the packet loss is constant and is really noticable.

Can anybody give me any advice on some kind of transcoding settings or may be shoud i set a packet size limit or something similar in VLC settings to reduce packet loss?

I'm sorry if this is a wrong forum, but i'm kinda out of ideas on my own already and just blindly searching Google didn't help much.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't use RTSP if you care about packet loss.
