Minimal View with full screen control

Postby panana » 01 Feb 2010 17:34

Maybe someone said something about this, but I haven't been able to find that post.

I use Ubuntu, and I don't like the interface of vlc, it doesn't fit my desktop. however, there is an option called "minimal view", I like it, it only shows the video area, very good for small screen and for space optimization, however, I didn't manage to access video controls unless I change to full screen, and happens that full sccreen controls are pretty good (with a transparency and more or less integrated).

So, why can't we activate the full screen control in the minimal view? in windowed mode, it could be usefull if the control would appear the way it does in full screen by mooving the mouse over the video (the botton area of the video could be better).

I think it doesn't need many changes and is a good solution for those who don't like the qt interface on Ubuntu or who like a minimal interface but with all the control.

Whay do you think?

I think it would be really good if the play controls become visible when you mouse-over, just like Windows Media Player 12 and when using VLC in full screen mode.

At the moment I have to either use keyboard shortcuts, which is fine most of the time, or toggle the toolbars using CTRL+H.

Were you thinking something like this on a mouse hover event? Because that would be awesome! I have no Idea how to do that though :(

It would really be awesome if there could be an option to enable the Full-Screen Controls (OSD when you hover mouse) for the windowed view. I think this would make VLC my favorite video player.

I am sure there are quite a few people like me who prefer to work on their computer while watching a video in a small window. To have more real estate on the screen to multi-task I prefer the "minimal view" (which on a mac one has to go into settings and toggle "window decorations" and stop/start the video again). It would be really great if we could have the same Full-Screen On Screen controls made available in a windowed view.

I agree with above requests and think it could be optional in preferences to have controls available in minimal view (e.g. would like to see how much time is left of video when moving mouse). Keyboard controls doesn't work either (e.g ctrl+v). Edit: I learned just now that one can press ESC to quickly get out of the minimal view mode to have full controls.
