language settings, vlc for linux

Postby anhu42 » 23 Dec 2019 00:00

I have a problem using vlc in liunx.
Unfortunately I am using the german version of this program and the german forum for vlc is smaller than this one. But for me it is not possible to set the language for vlc to english. As I red in the german forum this is not possible for the linux-version almost since 2014 (!!!).
So it is not possible to get help from this forum, as many people are not familiar with german error messages.

What is the reason not to set the language to english for linux?

This is annoying to all not-english-speaking people as they cannot get help here in this forum with their not-english error messages.

PLEASE! Let me set the language to english!!!

VLC logs are in consistently in English on Linux, have been for many years. Linux is actually the only system where this is NOT an issue.

And you can change the UI language for VLC as any other Linux desktop and CLI app.
