Rendering to Chromecast - can't disable "show media titles on start"

Postby KarlInOz » 13 Dec 2019 00:34

I originally posted this in the VLC media player for Windows Troubleshooting section but it seems to have disappeared from there and I can't find it in any searches of this forum so I'll re-post it here:

VLC: 3.0.8 for Windows
Windows 10 / 1909
Network connection: Ethernet

When rendering to my Chromecast device I cannot seem to disable the showing of media titles on video start. I have been to Preferences > Subtitles / OSD and unchecked Show media title on video start. I have also tried unchecking Enable On Screen Display (OSD) but still VLC shows the name of the file being cast for about 3 seconds at the start of the video. I am looping two videos continuously and so it is quite distracting. As well as that I also get a black screen for about half a second in between the two videos with the text Default Media Receivershown on the TV. Does anyone know how to disable the titles for Chromecast rendering?

It looks like I will need to wait for version 4 to hopefully resolve the black screen between videos according to this: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=150207&p=494819&hilit=seemless#p494819, but I would appreciate help on removing the titles.
