Newest Version Emptied My Media Library

I updated VLC on my iPhone today (12/5/2019) to version 3.2.5 (343) and now my Media Library is empty. Is there any way to get my Media Library back?

Do you still see your old medias in iOS' File app? If so, then they are still there. VLC app is just very slow to reload your medias. Wait a bit. They should return. My very old iPhone 6+ (iOS v12.4.3) did this too last night after updating VLC app. I also noticed VLC was slower until this was done. VLC app needs to let users that it needs to reread the medias and can take a while to complete.

I updated at 5 AM EST and it is now 1:30 PM EST but still nothing in Media Library. BTW, I am not familiar with IOS' File app. Is it one of the built-in apps that come with the iPhone?

Yes. Just use that app to see if your VLC app has the videos. I noticed my VLC thinks all *.MID files are videos, but they're not. No videos in mine at all then. VLC has a bug. Which iPhone and iOS do you have?

I have an iPhone 6S with IOS 13.2.3. I have looked at all my app icons (even in the Utilities sub-directory) and I don't see a File app. BTW, all my missing files are *.MP3 files. My video files (*.MP4) are still here.

Ah, interesting. Mine is reversed. I have all(?) my songs, but not videos in VLC even though Files App (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206481) show all. VLC team needs to fix it.

V3.2.6 is out, but didn't fix this empty media library. I still see no videos.

Same here. V3.2.6 still shows my Media Library as empty. Is it possible to "downgrade" back 5 or 6 release levels. The interface used to be clear and simple, but with each recent update the interface gets worse and worse. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for change when it improves things, but sadly the recent changes have had the opposite effect.

Could you try to force a medialibrary rescan?

You can find that on the Settings, under 'Media library'

Ditto on my iPhone. I even tried shutting down and powering up to reboot it.

For example, I have several episodes of TV shows in my library. Some still carry the title of the show: others just have a series of letters or numbers as the title. So I no longer find all episodes together and in order. I will now have to rename those files, and there are over. 20 of them!

How long did you have to wait to load? I noticed in v3.2.5, VLC did finally load after a while but they were all MIDI files as videos. Um, *.mid aren't videos but audios.

When can we expect this issue to get addressed? I’ve got hundreds of files I use for work. They were catalogued into playlists with filenames up until this update, now the playlists are gone and the filenames are scrambled. I started to reorganise yesterday but guess what? This morning it’s back to no playlists and randomised filenames!

I think it is because of the holidays. We'll probably won't get any answers and updates until 2020.

Any updates on this? We have lost all playlists and are blocked from creating playlists because of this. Can you please provide a date the fix will be implemented?
