SRT Subtitle duration not honored

Postby Tazz » 18 Nov 2019 22:11

Hello,
I recently tried to use subtitle files in srt format.
It works, but subtitle end time/duration is not honored. Last displayed subtitle stay on screen forever until another one take his place..
Last try with 3.0.8 and 3.0.9-nightly. With pref resetting, and with disabling of the default x2 duration factor (0 in the aforementioned pref).
I'm puzzle to find no report other reports on this.
Could someone try to reproduce it ?

PS: win10 64bits platform, but I don't think it is OS related.

If it stays on screen that means the subtitle end time is invalid or not parsed.

Yes, i checked the format and all is perfectly valid.
Example:

1
00:00:00,538 --> 00:00:03,729
Série contenant des scènes
pouvant ne pas convenir à un jeune public

2
00:00:03,729 --> 00:00:51,426
dont des scènes de violence sexuelles.
Pour public averti.

3
00:00:51,426 --> 00:00:54,961
Allez ! Hors de mon chemin !

4
00:00:54,961 --> 00:01:17,627
Que quelqu'un l'arrête !

5
00:01:17,627 --> 00:01:22,459
Veuillez reculer...

6
00:01:22,459 --> 00:01:28,795
Poussez-vous ! Dégagez !

7
00:01:28,795 --> 00:03:10,380
Non !

8
00:03:10,380 --> 00:03:14,489
Henry, je vais encore être
en retard à l'école à cause de toi !

9
00:03:14,489 --> 00:03:23,442
Allez !

10
00:03:23,442 --> 00:03:26,547
Tu prends plus de médocs
que ma grand-mère.

11
00:03:26,547 --> 00:03:29,859
Toi, tu t'habilles comme la mienne.

VLC just follows your subtitle times: 00:00:00,538 --> 00:00:03,729 --> 00:00:51,426 --> 00:00:54,961 --> ...
You can use a subtitle editor to fix end times in your subtitle file.
