Installing VLC 2.2.8 on Mac OSX 10.6 Issues

I downloaded VLC 2.2.8 for my iMac which currently runs Mac OSX 10.6. After the download was complete i tried moving the program to my applications. Upon doing so I get this pop up "The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “VLC” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36)" I am unsure why it is doing this. Please help.
