Speed setting to Normal does not work with hotkey =

Postby Papa Echo » 25 Oct 2019 01:19

Today I installed the VLC 3.0.8 on my Windows 8.1 Pro (German). I really like the hotkey functions to speed up or slow down a video with + or – hotkeys. But if I want to go back to normal speed with = it does not work. I changed the hotkey to 0 (zero) and restarted VLC, but it is still not working. Other hotkeys are working (I didn’t test them all). What is wrong?

I have installed VLC on another PC with Windows 10 and I have the same problem. Could it be a bug?

I can't reproduce the issue, it looks like your = key is already assigned to some other program or function.

You can check the list of hotkeys that are currently registered on your system with this free tool:

Thank you for the reply.
I have downloaded the tool, but the = key is not in the list. As I said in my initial post I had reassigned the key for normal rate to 0 and it also didn't work.
On both of my computers I have installed very little software.

What can I do now?

Are you using any special hardware, a tablet or anything else ?
If so, then unplug then all, reboot, and check if it helps.

For the record there is another recent report similar to yours:

I don't use special Hardware. #1 is a standard notebook and #2 is a pretty new desktop computer. Nothing attached on both.
My language in VLC and Windows is German.
I just read the other thread and started to test some more hotkeys. There are differences to the standard:
Louder should be CTRL+Cursor up (it works), but Cursor up without CTRL also makes it louder (should move a pixel up). Same with cursor down.
Speed setting (fine steps) with [ or ] does NOT work.
Alt+Ctrl+Left, Alt+Ctrl+Right, Alt+Ctrl+Up, Alt+Ctrl+Down are used from my video driver and don't work with VLC.

I didn't test every hotkey, but there is definitely an issue with this hotkey function.
