vlc shows stretched video on fire stick 4k

I'm using a fire stick 4k on a 1080p tv

Some videos end up looking stretched.

In one case the video resolution was 3840x1608. It also happened with a video with 1920x804 resolution.

videos play at the correct ratio on pretty much every other media player i've tried (kodi, mx player, etc.)

I hope this issue is being worked on.

Any update on this ? I don't even use a Firestick but I have the same problem here, some anamorphic movies are forced in 16/9 no matter switching the aspect ratios.
