VLC for iOS 3.2.0- Videos are all icons vs. a list now

Postby erintherapy » 25 Sep 2019 03:14

One day I opened my iPad mini Generation 2, and my VLC movies were all icons and all in one place.
(Same in the iPad mini Generation 5 I just bought.)

They used to be in 3 folders, and in list format, which I prefer.

Do you know how I can make it go back to folder and list format? (I've looked ALL around the app several times and can't figure it out.)

Would LOVE your help! Thank you!!!

It’s now almost useless... so many videos (not tv shows) have long names such that you can’t see the portion of the name that makes each unique.

Help!!!

same for me.
I also prefer the folder function. For this reason I’ve deleted the apple-movie-app and downloaded vlc. Now it‘s useless for me again...
Is it possible to get back to the functions before the update? tnx

Can't believe that there areno longer folders to sort and arrange your media files.
Many users missing and asking for this feature, including me.

Why a beta test when developer don't hear about the wishes or give at least an answer if and when folders coming back.

Is there a link via which we can request the folder feature from VideoLAN?

Is this the same problem that is preventing my TV Shows from being grouped under one icon? Or has the ability to configure the view been moved to somewhere I cannot see?

@prplchkj
Unfortunately the automatic grouping was one of many features removed in this pure abomination of an update.

Hello,

Automatic grouping by name will be coming back to VLC-iOS.

Do you have any sense of timing? Days, weeks, months, or years?

Thanks!

All I can say is that a first version of the automatic grouping should be coming soon.

Looks like there is a "Video groups" that appears to be working like previously for my files...

This seems very promising... :D

Is there any possible way to add files/remove them manually if the program didn't recognize it?

Video groups are formed by looking at the media filename, so you can either:

- Before importing, rename your files to help the app detect them for example: "tvshow-name-episode01", "tvshow-name-episode02"...
It should create a group of "tvshow-name..."

- After importing, you can rename your files through the edit mode. You need to give them a common prefix, that could be the name of the tv show for example.
