Application crashes after completion of playing video

Postby htlba » 13 Sep 2019 14:51

This just started happening in the latest beta of macOS Catalina 10.15 Beta (19A558d). Up until this time, no issues were seen. I get the window that the application has crashed. Here are a shortened version of the details in the crash window. Could not load them all. So far have not found a workaround:

Same crash, different cause. In my case I can crash VLC by deleting the active playing film from the playlist. Crash rather than move on to next film.

However I can not reproduce the above post. a finished video properly moves on to the next one in the playlist for me.

An update: Last night beta 9 was released by Apple: 10.15 Beta (19A573a) and it appears to have resolved my issue with VLC crashing when stopping a video or the video normally ending. I have gone through the release notes for 19A573a but have not found anything that points directly to a code change. Hope the Beta 9 assists you with your problem.

Thanks. Got the DevBeta 9 note yesterday afternoon but haven’t installed it yet.
Though since I posted the above it was tracked elsewhere to an iOS issue from other app devs. Looks like the memory timeout was set too high for MacOS to accommodate iOS ports. Causing long term holds to crash. Readiris and some video muxing tools also crash with the same error.
I could be wrong since it’s not my area but judging from the volume of iOS related toolkit and porting changes and the the memory issues all being long term access faults... it makes sense.

Yes it does, good catch. I saw all the IOS code updates but wasn't sure from the dump I had. Thanks
