vlc 3.0.8 h265 4k distortion

various h265 4k movies end up like this (distortion along bottom). vlc hates them so much it crashes when trying a screen snapshot.



is there a setting to change

imac 4K 2019 (macos 10.14.6), radeon pro vega 20 graphics.

movies:
i have heard that Quantum.of.Solace.2008.INTERNAL.2160p.WEB.H265-DEFLATE has this problem, among many others.

mpv 0.29.1, which sometimes has same playback problems as vlc, works correctly in this case.
