HTTP Streaming

Postby Lexington » 08 Mar 2004 08:11

Hi Folks..
I have a problem with http Streaming.
I am using vlc 071 on a win 2 k prof PC and I use the streaming wizard
to create an http Stream.
The local PC has the IP 172.16.1.3 and thats where i stream to. I tried to use Port 1234 as it was set by default.
The Top line of my GUI Interface shows like this:

:sout=#duplicate{dst=std{access=http,mux=ts,url=172.16.1.3:1234}}

After I hit start everything looks ok so far. The clock counter starts to run and it seems as if my mpg1 stream is running.
Now the Problem:
When I try to watch this stream no matter wheter I use my winXP on 172.16.1.1 or my win2k on 172.16.1.2 the movie appears to run for about a second and then freezes. I try to connect to my server with http://172.16.1.3:1234 and the same behaviour appears on WMP as well.
So where am I wrong ?
Do i have to set up a webserver on the streaming server as well ?
or do i have to name the stream in my client software ?
or is there anything else I screwed up ?
I would fancy any help one this one

Does this happen with other video files besides mpg1? Have you tried Divx, mp4, ogg? Also, try posting a message log from the computer you're trying to view the stream from. To get to the message log, go to View -> Messages...
