Can't move mp3 file to different folder

Postby deac33 » 08 Aug 2019 07:10

I have an ipod 6 gen with ios 12.4 and VLC 3.1.9.

On previous versions of VLC I could move an mp3 or mp4 file to a different existing folder by navigating to the file, select EDIT, and click the folder icon (or maybe it was a "Move" button, don't recall exactly) which let me locate and select the desired destination folder.

Now when I find my file and click on EDIT it only gives me a folder icon which just lets me create a new folder to move it to. There is also and UP ARROW icon which will move the file up one level, but I don't see a way to then move it to an existing folder.

Was that feature removed (seems unlikely) or do I need to do a different action to move the file?

Thanks much for any help.

Hello,

On the current version this can be a bit tedious.
If the said file is already in a folder, you need to bring it to the top folder with the Arrow icon you mentioned.
Once you're in the top folder, do:

- Edit
- Select file
- Press the folder icon(bottom left)
- Select in which folder you want to move it

Please note that if you don't have any folders, you will be prompted with an alert to create a new folder.

Hope this helps.

Bubu?,
Thank you, well explained, but that doesn't work for me. I did click the up arrow to take the file back to the top level, but when I click the folder icon it only gives me the choice to create a new folder.

I even copied the name of my desired destination folder and it just made a new one of the same name and put my mp3 file there. So now I have two subfolders with the same name, one with many files and a new folder, same name, with only my one new file. Perhaps it's a bug.

Seems it used to work the way you described, but not now. Can I submit a bug report?
