Mirror or cast from laptop to several tablets

Hello, My first time visiting here. I admit I'm probably searching using wrong words. Please direct me in the correct direction if I am wrong.

My goal as we travel with our grandkids in our 15 passenger van, is to play a dvd movie on my laptop (Windows 10), and send (either by usb or wireless) to three or four, Fire 7 tablets (7th Gen, I have added Google Play app, and can access Google Play store), while play audio thru van speakers via 3.5mm cord. (Or to use android phones.)

A google search along this idea indicates this is possible, and search words seem to be "mirror" and/or "cast". My searching seems to indicate that VLC for desktop PC and another VLC for android (on each tablet) would be needed.

Am I anywhere near the right path? A search within this forum (using my poor word choices) did not return any results.
