Why the vlc play the MPEG1 file occur much audio track?

Postby chenvc » 21 Nov 2005 03:39

I use the vlc-0.8.1 and vlc-0.8.2 in WinXPsp2, They can play MPEG1 and MPEG2, but they will occur much mosaic, and occure two video track and two or three audio track when play MPEG1. In fact the MPEG1 file is only have one video track and one audio track! !
The file is FIFF CDXA format!

Please help me! Thanks a lot!

From your log it appears that:

1. You are calling the disk externally rather than calling the file from within VLC. Would be worth trying a number of different files from within VLC to see if there is a difference.

2. The header for the file you are trying to play very well may be corrupt causing some very strange problems. Try more files.

3. Try placing the file you are having problems with in a directory on your hard drive by it self and try playing it.

Is it only MP(E)G files you are having problem with??

Sorry I can't be of more help but I have not experienced this problem. By trying the few things suggested here may give us some clues.

Dear DJ, thank you very much for your reversion!
I played many CDXA files and they mostly appeared the error! And that some file will appeared two video track, the second video window will is black and have no any video data. I copied the files to hard disk. Only the MP(E)G files are having the problem, and the file head are have the "RIFF CDXA" symbol!
The files having problem are played very good use Windows media player and other player!

I have experienced with some MP(E)G files a random second video or audio track that really isn't there. But I know they are not CDXA. Is there a place I could download a sample and try it??

OK!
Now I am uploading the file! the download directory:
http://www.blueice.cn/IamSORRY.mpg

Otherwise, the vlc cann't yet play the http files which it containing blank character(for example: "I am SORRY.mpg")!
It can play the file: http://192.168.0.1/IamSORRY.mpg
But it cann't play the file: http://192.168.0.1/I am SORRY.mpg

Space are not valid in http url. You have to replace them by %20 (and there are other invalid characters)

Now I am uploading the file! the download directory:
http://www.blueice.cn/IamSORRY.mpg

Otherwise, the vlc cann't yet play the http files which it containing blank character(for example: "I am SORRY.mpg")!
It can play the file: http://192.168.0.1/IamSORRY.mpg
But it cann't play the file: http://192.168.0.1/I am SORRY.mpg
I downloaded the first one in the list and looked at it. At first look, it didn't look like an mpeg file except for the header. But it did play normally under Windows using the Mpeg1 codec for both sound and video. Also tried VLC and while it also played normally, messages seemed to think it wasn't an mpeg file. but did agree to try playing it anyway, lots of garbage at input. Same thing I saw when physically examining the file.

If this is representative of all of the files, I would most certainly look at the source. In other words the program used to write these files may not be fully MPEG compliant. Thus causing problems for some players and or codec and not others.

I did not encounter dual audio or video tracks, but given the nature of the header and VLC believing it is garbage, I wouldn't be surprised at possible confusion with differing hardware types. Also it is a very slow start in everything I tried indicating that it may be the same for every MPEG compliant filter.

Space are not valid in http url. You have to replace them by %20 (and there are other invalid characters)
OK, I see! Thank you very much for your reply.

Thank you!
It will occur the second audio track after playing the file about 35 second and it will occure the second video track after playing 1 minute 25 second. I use vlc-0.8.2, OS: Windows XP, 815 mainboard, display card: ATI Radeon 7000.

I am in China and the VCD files in China are mostly the "RIFF CDXA" format. So we cann't play the VCD files and we must encode the files.

I asked for a sample, you gave me a sample, I examined the sample and determined the the file was bad even though it always played both audio and video on three different players using two different systems. I further examined the file with Graph edit but didn't find any more significant information. I then gave you the bottom line results and suggested that if you have more of these that you are experiencing the same problem with that you should examine your encoding system.

I did not say that you need to abandon the format, only that you should look for a new or updated encoder or perhaps it is a source problem. If others are trading these files, I would tend to believe they are experiencing the same problems. This recommendation is of coarse based on the sample you provided me!
