ActiveX problem under Win2k ?

Postby freekc » 10 Jan 2006 11:19

Hello

I use the VLC activeX plugin, and it works perfectly on Windows XP, 2.8GHz, 512Mo...
But on another computer (much more modest), it crashes...well not exactly : it takes 100% CPU ressources as soon as I launch the streaming receiving (I receive a UDP stream).
This computer runs under Windows 2000 SP4, 700MHz, 256Mo...(it is an HP laptop)

Both computers use Internet Explorer 6.

Does anyone has a clue what my problem comes from ?

(I tried my application on other computers (WinXP) and it works fine...)

I had the similare problem. I think it has to do with the video drivers on the laptops. ( I had two laptops and both had the same issue). Once I moved to a desk top the CPU usage went away. So by elimination, it was the video.
Sorry for no good news, but at least you know.
THANX
Bill

I tried my application on IBM laptops (ThinkPad T41 and T42) with no problems....
But your idea is interesting...I'll try to update video drivers !

thank you

HP Omnibook 6000 : ATI Rage Mobility-M AGP

IBM ThinkPad T41 : ATI Mobility Radeon 7500

Overlay mode is on.....and the same problem occurs if turned off...

Overlay mode shuts down video acceleration and puts more weight on your CPU. Not a smart thing to do assuming DirectX is working correctly with your video card's drivers.
