Video cropping filter in VLC 3.0.4 does not seem to work

Postby victor78 » 23 Dec 2018 21:06

Hello, I think I've found a bug in VLC 3.0.4.

If I for example select that I want to crop 10 pixels from the top I can then not even press the Save button to save my setting (since the Save button is still grayed out).
And even if I workaround that problem by also changing something else (not related to video cropping) so that the Save button becomes available, the changes I made for video cropping seems to be lost anyway.
And no matter how I've tried I never get the cropping to work e.g. if I try to do a Convert/Save. (And I can successfully use other filters, so I don't think that it's me who is doing something wrong.)

Or does anybody have any idea?

When you say you can successfully use other filters, do you mean that you can save your changes and they will appear when you open the file in some other program (not VLC)? If so, PLEASE tell me how you did it, because I can't bake any changes into the video. As someone else put it, the effects only work in real time via the VLC player and are not actually embedded into the video.
I had the same problem as you did with cropping, but also with everything else.
Please do let me know how you succeeded! I've spent hours trying to make this work.
