Trouble editing wiki - not authorized to

Postby TomasForsman » 03 May 2016 20:07

Hello.

Tried to edit https://wiki.videolan.org/Adjust_Subtitle_Delay/ to correct that "Advance Synchronization" works both when subtitles are before audio and the other way, but I'm not allowed to.

I registered, authenticated the email address and then.. nothing yet. It's been a week now, thinking there could be a "cool down" period..

I have no edit tab, and going to View source I get:
You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:
The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Autoconfirmed users.

Trying to create a new page, I get:
... but you do not have permission to create this page.

How can this be remedied?

Same here, wanted to update this line

Code: Select all

*'''--volume <integer>''' sets the level of audio output (between 0 and 1024). Also only applies to local playback (like --noaudio).

Code: Select all

*'''--volume <integer>''' sets the level of audio output (between 0 and 1024). Also only applies to local playback (like --noaudio) (deprecated since 2.1.0, use '''--directx-volume <float [0.000000 .. 2.000000]>''' or '''--waveout-volume <float [0.000000 .. 2.000000]>''' instead).

Hi!
I would have liked to add my app to the "Are there apps actually deploying VLCKit on OS X and iOS?" page of the Wiki (https://wiki.videolan.org/VLCKit/#Are_t ... nd_iOS.3F ), but I also get an error that I should be part of the Autoconfirmed Users list (also a dead link: https://wiki.videolan.org/VideoLAN_Wiki ... med_users/).

I cannot signup because of a Permissions error (https://wiki.videolan.org/Special:UserLogin/signup/): "The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Administrators.". I feel like I'm in a loop  , any suggestions?

I see I'm not the first who gets the line
"The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Administrators."

I wonder why it is stated that registering is easy, and then ...

My topic was:
Documentation:Audio/#Recording_Audio
"The recording from a shoutcast stream is stored somewhere in your files [...]. Under my german Windows XP it was stored under "Eigene Dateien/Eigene Music" so I guess ..."

I just want to add
"Under my German Linux, it was under ~/Dokumente/Musik so I guess it will be under ~/Documents/Music in an English system, but I cannot tell for true since I remember having "customized" the directory structure of my private files."
And AFAIK "german" should be "German" ...

And since the "administration" trap appears to be frequent, it would be a good idea to explain what happens and to advice someone who gets that message how to solve the problem (e.g. "please tell in the forum[link] ...", if this is the best way).

Hi,

I found a broken external link on the wiki and went to fix/edit it - as the vlc wiki invites people to edit it - but when I tried to create an account to do so, I was not able to as creating accounts requires admin status.

Is it possible to get an account to fix the link? How does one go about doing so?

Thanks, Mark.

So, if the Wiki is dead:

1. Where do I find the current documentation? The German Videolan Webpage links to https://www.videolan.org/support/ in case someone needs "help", and the there link to "the documentation" goes to the Wiki, i.e. https://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation

2. Why does the Wiki not tell it is "dead"? Just an edit for the start page could do it.

3. If I find the documentation and see anything that could be amended (corrected, added, ...), how can I contribute?

We're working on a new system for the documentation, for the summer.
