Screen sharing on LG crashes when VLC opens

Postby Straykitten » 02 Oct 2018 13:37

Is anyone else having a problem when trying to watch VLC via screen share? I connect and everything's fine. Then, I open VLC player and I lose the connection.

I thought it was my laptop, my firewall and my TV. I updated the laptop drivers, made sure the firewall wasn't blocking it and that the TV was up to date. This problem started suddenly and is affecting both my LG TVs on which it worked perfectly before. The only thing that I can think of it the recent update from VLC that I installed.

Any help welcome. I'm not very techie! :geek:

Maybe this youtube video might help if you're not following the same sequence to connect via a laptop or your phone.

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not the issue I'm having. :( I have been successfully connnecting VLC to LG screen share for over a year. Plus, this problem started out of the blue. Moreoever, if I use Windows Media Player, I don't have a problem. However, WMP doesn't appear support all formats or subtitles unless hard-coded. It started happening around the same time I installed Bitdefender. However, I went through the process of ensuring VLC was not blocked by its firewall.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I would really like to resolve this, as VLC has been my preferred media player for years now and I hate WMP!

Thanks in advance for any replies! :)
