strace shows nothing during playback

Postby vLx » 22 Dec 2018 22:13

Hi,
Apologies if this is not the best place to make this question.
I'd like to see vlc's system calls, and I'm especially interested in how vlc gets the current time or waits for the next frame.
When I run vlc under strace I don't see any system calls at all while playing a video. What gives? Can someone help?

Thank you!

Tracing the wrong thread(s) or process(es).

Now I realize how silly I was. Apparently trace only traces the main thread by default, requiring -f to show all threads.

Thank you!
