Retriving what (all that) I need

Postby pctechtv » 14 Dec 2018 23:39

We have a video database that uses VLC to look up content. The database uses FileMaker to send a request to VLC like so: http://127.0.0.1:8080/requests/status.xml this request returns to a variable that we can retrieve the name of playing file and its position. It also does not need to bring VLC Player into focus, it just grabs what we need from the player and keeps us in our database. This request is missing the playing file’s path on the hard drive. I am trying to figure out a way to also get the path. I see information about VLC using Lua, however, I don’t have any experience with it. Could this whole process of retrieving what I want be done via a Lua script? Could it be put into a return from a request or does Lua have to be accessed via the VLC menu? If anybody has something like I am looking for could you please share. If I hear that it is possible to return data to a variable that we can access like the web request I will try to create one… that is after learning more about Lua. Thanks
