VLC iPhone app crashing at 1second video playback

Hello I am very new to this forum thing I just really need some help with this app I downloaded it and have had it for a while now. I’d say about a month ago the app started to crash as the videos would reach one second left I restarted my phone. Didn’t work. I deleted app and reinstalled. Didn’t work. Please help. I really love this app when it works but now every time I play something it crashes. I am running IOS 12 and have the latest update for VLC.

Can you share some more details of the video file(s) you are trying to play? Format/Codec, filesize, resolution, bitrate, etc.

I’m going to echo the OP; I’ve had the exact same issue. It’s almost 100% of the time blanket with webm files, regardless of resolution. Other media files appear fine, but webm files, regardless of their size, settings, whatever, always crash. What’s weird, though, is it’s clearly not EVERY webm affected; I’ve tried testing with Big Buck Bunny and that works fine.

So I’m not exactly sure what the situation is.


EDIT: tested again with a mirrored Big Buck bunny webm from wikimedia and it crashed on 1sec like the rest.

Is this on iPhone XS, XS Max or XR?

OK, then we know why this is happening, but not exactly how to fix it correctly. :/
