I'm attempting to use VLC to stream a Blu Ray Disk from my Home PC to a Chromecast. The setup works, but the playback is extremely laggy and stutters. I've tried playing with the muxer cache options (which was the suggested solution via a quick Google) but can't seem to make playback any smoother.
I understand its a pretty intensive operation but thought there would probably be a way to optimise. My PC is decent (can post specs if needed) and plays back Blu rays locally perfectly fine. I also think that my wifi network is suitable too - I can stream HD movies across it from my plex media server (on a raspberry pi) no problem.
I guess I'm not exactly looking for a fix, but a way to diagnose the cause of the stutter. It could be my PC transcoding, my router, or the chromecast. I've checked the VLC logs and don't get much more info than the player moving from a playing state to a buffering state constantly.
Any pointers in any direction would be great.
Thanks
