Random playlist barely working

Postby Finniemc » 23 Sep 2018 16:29

I have a bunch of videofiles that are to be randomly displayed on a screen in a waiting room, they are stored in different maps under a general map. Up to this version I never had a problem with right clicking the general map and choosing "Play with VLC" and the random function.

Now (3.0.4) however the random function barely works anymore, it takes all the files from just a few folders and shows these, often even showing the same file twice.

Same problem here.

I use VLC to play random videos from a large harddrive with thousands of files, sorted into folders and sub-folders. Normally all I had to do was "Open Folder" and select the harddrive, and VLC would load all files on the HD into one huge playlist and play them randomly with no issues.

Now, however, it adds the folders themselves into the playlist instead of the files within the folders, and randomly picks only a fraction of the files available.

Double clicking the folders will add some of the files within to the playlist, but not all of them.

The whole thing is completely bugged and utterly useless. No idea if it's a mistake or an attempt at some fancy new feature nobody asked for.
