Playing multiple AVI files

Ok, I have several split AVI files (Example movie.avi.001, movie.avi.002, movie.avi.003.....etc, etc.)

I finally figured out that VLC will play the first file (or at least let you preview the movie or file) However, after the first one plays, I can not get any of the other files to play.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO COMBINE THEM? or at least get to play more than just one of the split files to play.
