VLC 2.0.4.2 with 32 bit application upgrading from centOS6 to CentOS7

Postby bibhubrata » 21 Sep 2018 09:21

Hi, Need help here with the VLC package we are using with our 32 bit application.

The application was deployed on CentOS 6 and vlc-2.0.4-2.el6.i686.rpm was packaged with it. Not the OS is being upgraded to CentOS 7 and VLC 32 bit is not supported on it. The problem is that we can't move the application to 64 bit, so it stays 32 bit. Now, is it advisable to move to VLC 64 bit? Will it be compatible with our 32 bit application? Or should we package an old 32 bit VLC?

What is the 32 bit application you are using and how does it interact with VLC?

If it doesn't depend on specific libraries of VLC, then you should be able to use the 64 bit version if you are running the 64 version of CentOS.
Otherwise use the 32 bit VLC (i686 version) packaged for RHEL/CentOS/SL 6: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-redhat.html
