TS file problems

Postby lemmy999 » 29 May 2018 15:14

I have tried several different TS files (MPEG2 Video and AC3 audio) on my Nividia Shield using VLC 3.0.10 and while the videos plays fine, when the time bar is pulled up the time on the right that should show the length of the video shows 0:00 and I am unable to move the time slider, or skip forward +10s or even put in a specific time to jump to. Basically there is no ability change the time. If you stop playback and then start back, unlike other video files I have played in VLC, it goes back to the beginning. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

So does anyone attempt to play .TS files with VLC? I have still had this issue with every .TS file I have tried to play with VLC. Kodi seems to have no issues with them.

I just installed VLC for Android on a new Sony TV. I had no idea there was a solution that could play Blu-ray format over the network. I was surprised to find that selecting the main movie TS file worked including HD audio down mixing to output audio through my TV... very cool!

Last night I tried to pick up watching where I left off and ran into the same issue you described. I cannot use the "jump to time" feature. It allows me to enter a time but has no affect on the playback. I am also not able to use the scroll bar to forward the movie at all. The only function I could use was to adjust the playback speed.

I think this is related to the issue I have around the inability to seek when playing .ts files.

I logged an issue with the developers. https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc- ... issues/643

This issues seems to be specific to the Android platform when playing files over the network. Not sure if you could test your system by copying the file locally to confirm that.

Thanks pypk for the links. I see the admins mentioned that this was a currently known limitation. I've subscribed to the thread to watch for updates. This Android TV app has a lot of potential since I like to stream media through SMB from a NAS.

Thanks pypk. I will try to copy the file to the Shield and see if that helps.

I think you conclusion is correct. It is specific to the Android platform when playing files over the network. I copied the file over to the Shield and time navigation worked perfectly. I hadn't tried that yet. Thanks for informing the developers.
