Error while trying to access vlm.html

Postby Zi3 » 24 Jul 2018 14:25

Hi everybody !
Before I tell you my problem, you will find below the configuration of my PC.
OS :
- Windows 8.1 64 bits
VLC :
- VLC 3.0.3 64 bits
- Excepting 2 options, my VLC is all configured using default preferences. This 2 options can be found in the window named “Advanced Preferences” reachable by following the path: VLC Media Player > Tools > Preferences. This 2 options are:
o 1st option : Interface > Main interfaces
 In the subwindow “Main interfaces”, tick the box named “Web”
o 2nd option : Interface > Main interfaces > Lua
 In the subwindow “Lua interpreter”, choose a password for the text field of the Lua HTTP Password (for example, “admin”).
Now, below, the procedure I follow to start the VLM server.
The only thing I do is executing the start.bat file containing the information below:
cd C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC
vlc.exe --ttl 12 -vvv --color --http-host=127.0.0.1 --http-port=8080
After that, I open Internet Explorer and tape in the field for URL: http://127.0.0.1:8080/vlm.html
Then, a window appears and I let blank the field “username” and enter “admin” in the field “password” before pressing the Enter key.
After that, this error appears:
Error loading /vlm.html
…xtras/package/win32/../../../share/lua/intf/http.lua:95: attempt to index a nil value
VideoLAN
Lua 5.1 Reference manual

So this’s my problem, can you solve it ?
NB :
- I haven’t the problem with VLC 2.1.5 32 bits
- I’ve the problem with VLC 3.0.3 32 bits, VLC 2.2.6 32 bits
Thanks in advance for your answer,
Zi3

Indeed, it is completely broken.

Thanks for your answer.

Problems with the version 2.1.5 is the emergence of spontaneous crashes of VLC during VOD diffusion.

More precisely, no crash have been reported yet when the flux, created as disabled, have been enabled.
But after the flux is enabled, if the flux is again disabled and then enabled (stop & start), then VLC crashes.

Finally, is there a version of VLC (upper or lower than 2.1.5), more stable than 2.1.5, containing a working VLM ?

Thanks in advance,
Zi3

Hi,

I'm back again.

Currently, i've a VOD diffusion, using RTSP and a TELNET interface, from a video file, which works.
The question is, in this configuration, is it possible to change the following behavior : "If the flux is lost or if the flux is disabled and then, enabled, the video will be played again from the start" by this one : "If the flux is lost or if the flux is disabled and then, enabled, the video will be played from where it stopped" ?
In other words, is it possible to simulate a video-live-stream ?

OR

Is it possible to broadcast using RTP instead of RTSP ?

Thanks in advance,
Zi3
