ProjectM V3

Postby masterx244 » 28 Jul 2018 18:46

Wondering atm if any of the VLC devs noted that ProjectM moved to Github and got quite a few changes since then?

There is also some work done there to get rid of the old CG-based shader works

Tried to compile it for VLC but only got a crash after messing around with the compiler errors. Stupidly the crash got some anti-debug included by refusing to spit out a backtrace in gdb so not even a hint for me inside on whats the cause.

https://github.com/projectM-visualizer/ ... m/releases
topmost and thus current release is 3.0 on 17th june.
Tried to get the GLSL branch to work for personal reasons. Standalone version of that one worked on a ubuntu system. the GLSL branch which is planned to get merged into master fixes shader support by converting the old HLSL ones to the openGL format to make them crossplatform-usable without CG toolkit.
Might have to check if stuff works with master branch. Maybe someone of the crosscompiling pro-users gets more progress

Dear Jean-Baptiste Kempf,

On behalf of the pM dev team, we'd like some pointers on what would be needed in order to get projectM back in VLC. We've had a number of requests for this. It's no secret that projectM has been idle for quite some time. However, after picking up the axe and doing some cleaning and modernization to the code, we feel it's time to pick up the VLC support issue, and put some grease into getting that in place.

A few pointers would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Tord & Mischa (projectM)

I really want it back in VLC, notably if it is finally using openGL.
