black screen after video recording using Any Video Recorder software

Postby vinckles » 25 Jul 2018 14:12

Hi,
Any Video Recorder is a free software, whereby you place a red frame around a moving video picture and literally record the image. It is rather like pointing a camcorder at a tv screen and recording the picture directly from the tv screen.
I wanted to copy the picture I was playing back on vlc media player. However the resulting recording reveals only a plain black screen - no image!
Why should this be? Do you know if there is a remedy? The Any Video Recorder is supposed to 'see' whatever is inside the red frame, so why does it 'close it's eyes' to vlc media screen?

I tried setting the Video Module to Open GL, but it does not remedy the problem!
I tried several different screen capture apps but all of them do not recognise a proper picture from vlc display.
I should mention, I tested all of this in a public library. I don't know if that is significant or not(?)
I found I have to set the Video Module to Automatic; play the mp4 video and then reset the Video Module to Open GL, otherwise vlc player will only display 'black'.
If you can think of any other ideas why Screen Recorders cannot 'see' the image, please let me know. Thank you.

No idea, sorry. Try GDI output.
