VLC 3.0 cannot play IFO file format

After downloaded and installed the latest VLC 3.0, I tried to play with IFO files format, and nothing happen. I tried on another computer, same result. I removed and reinstalled both 32bit and 64bit, nothing is playing IFO. However, the previous VLC version has no issue to play back. I then tried to play back with MP4 file format, no issue to playback with this format.

Can someone test out this issue, or let me know you have a similar issue. Many thanks.

I also have the same issue with VLC 3.0 x64 on Windows 10.
No .ifo files will be played...

Hope this can be fixed, the older 2.X had no problems.

.ifo are DVD files, or is it something else?

Yes, its DVD.
For example, windows explorer shows it like this:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.VOB
VTS_02_1.VOB
… and so on.

If you drag and drop the first file VIDEO_TS.IFO into VLC, the old version begun to play it (and “merged” all .VOB files to one movie, so that you don’t have to click these separate).
=> With version 3.0 this isn’t possible

Can confirm. IFO file would play the DVD in the old version, all the menus were clickable etc.
V3.0 nothing happens.
I'm reverting to an older version.

You can play the IFO files if they are played as a disc.

1: open VLC
2: Media drop down menu
3: Open disc
4: DVD option (Browse)
*Don't select disc drive select folder where primary IFO and corresponding files are located.
5: Once folder is found click select folder
And

Attempting to play DVD with IFO format in Windows 10, would not play at all in 2.2.6, upgrade to 3.0.3 will not play if you just select D:/ -- but will play fine if you browse into the disc and select D:/VIDEO_TS as the source. I have been instructed that this workaround is too complicated for our users to have to do to play an instructional DVD.
