vlc on tv via apple TV

Hi all

I am not a techy so please humour what is probably a basic issue for most in the forum.

I downloaded the vlc app to my iPad and movies playing OK. I use apple tv to watch vids from my iPad on the TV and I thought that I could do the same with vlc on the iPad no problem - the airplay symbol is there and it allows me to choose apple tv as an option and the airplay icon turns blue but there is only audio on the TV.

Can anyone help?

Regrettably, you need to enable AirPlay mirroring. Otherwise, you will not get any video as VLC currently does support the proper way to output video via AirPlay.

Where do i need to enable airplay mirroring? App? Phone? AppleTV?

Please make also sure to check for Airplay 2 with Audio Playback on HomePod. One user of my App (using TVVLCKit) mentioned to me, that Audio has a delay of several seconds. As HomePod is using AirPlay 2, this may also go into this topic.
