"Control playback with media keys"

Postby thusup » 22 Apr 2018 08:11

Where did the "Control playback with media keys" option go, if it still exists? I want to disable previous track, next track, and play/pause buttons that exist on my keyboard as another application globally uses them.

Uh, if another application intercepts the key presses, then VLC won't see them, regardless of any setting.

That is factually incorrect. When I press the pause button on my keyboard while VLC has focus the media in VLC pauses playback and the other application (a macro panel that changes my system's audio settings) acts on the keypress as well.

So back the original question, where did the setting go, if it's still in VLC?

This is factually incorrect. When I press a globally grabbed key, it goes only to the grabbing application. It wouldn't make sense for the windowing system to deliver a single input event twice.

I feel frustrated and annoyed when you focus on issues that are only tangentially related to the subject of threads because it has the potential to make others uninterested or unwilling to participate in on-topic discussion.

This https://my.mixtape.moe/xgmeiw.flv is a video showing exactly what I'm talking about. VLC has keyboard and mouse focus and I am pressing the Play/Pause button on my keyboard.

Here is a GIF of a section of that video:

Again, this is only tangentially related. It is context. Is not the question or problem.
