VLC 3.0.1 various issues

Hi, i write here for some issues in VLC v3.0.1 x64 (OS: Windows 10 Pro 1709 x64).

1) The volume bar in full screen is blue, and not white.
I tried to reset preferences, but it not working.
How can I fix it?

2) In full screen mode, when I move the mouse and the control bar appears, for a moment the screen becomes blue.
This happens also when I not move the mouse and the control bar disappear.
Can you fix it?

3) With VLC 2.x, for each video/audio file windows Explorer showed in "type" column the text "VLC Media File (.avi)" (or the audio/video file extension).
Now with VLC 3.0.1 windows Explorer shows in "type" column the text "VLC Media File", without the file extension.
Can you fix it?

For #2 do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card ? Anything else running on your GPU ?

I have just uninstalled VLC 3.0.0 for Windows 7 and installed VLC 3.0.1 and it DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. All I get is a green screen with a small (finger nail size) oval orange blob and an intermittant F at bottom of screen, no video or audio. What is wrong?Cheers,

No others program running on GPU, and video card driver is updated, but #2 still persist.

But strangely, if i set Direct3D9 video output, the bug #2 not happens (but #1 still happens). Why?

For #2, why Direct3D11 doesn't work and Direct3D9 instead yes?
For #3, is a Windows issue or a VLC issue?

Seeing the same thing with DVDS except that after a few seconds the whole system shuts down and reboots.

There's obviously issues with Windows 7 but it'll be brushed off as graphics drivers even though there's no more updates with a lot of these cards.

I've upgraded to VLC 3.0.1 from the latest 2.x version. The problem is "Set as wallpaper" mode doesn't work in 3.0.1 - if I set "Set as wallpaper", it just runs standard full screen and that's all.
Uninstall/reinstall with cash and prefs delete doesn't solve the issue. I can't get "Set as wallpaper" to work in 3.0.1 whatever I do.

VLC 3.0.1 x64 @ Windows 10 @64.

Rolled back to 2.2.8 where "Set as wallpaper" works properly. If any ideas how to make it working in 3.0.1 - please let me know, I will install 3.0.1 again and will try it.

If you force D3D9 and DXVA2 hardware decoding Set as wallpaper should work. Otherwise you're probably using Direct3D11 which has limited support on Win7.

Hi, same problem here on Windows 10(1709).

Every time I move the mouse, I got some crazy blue/yellow flash on the screen.

And strangely I discovered, that with "GPU-Z" set to "always on top", the flash disappears, so apparently having a windows always on top seem to resolve the issue, maybe that's something to take in count for fixing this problem?

CPU: Intel i5
GPU: AMD R9 200 series (18.2.1)

Otherwise you're probably using Direct3D11 which has limited support on Win7.

But I'm on Win10 !
Indeed, if I change "Automatic" to "Direct3D9 video output", then Set As Wallpaper works. But is it normally ? Because on VLC 2.x there was no such issue to set anything manually there.

I have a similiar issues as described and underlined here, only in my case those control bars for volume and video time have disappeared completely in full screen. I went back to VLC 2.2.6 and the problem remained. Also, in VLC 3.0.1 I can't set the volume higher than 100%, the bar in Preferences is grey and unchangeable, also when coming off full screen the window remains in "full-screen" instead going back to the original size, even setting 16:9 size preference doesn't help.

I just updated VLC with this version on my Windows 8.1 laptop and I have this strage problem that I've not been able to fix [on the older VLC version I had not this problem]:
when I change the volume it doesn't actually change the volume of the reproduction, the volume stays the same, even if I mute VLC.
Nothing in the advanced settings suggests why this happens, so I couldn't solve it myself.
Can you help me, please?

i think that once you decide to 'always use VLC to open that kind of file' (mkv, avi, mp4 etc), that file type will always be displayed as 'VLC media file' (the same thing should happen with audio files and the program you use to play audio files)
after that description anyway is noted the kind of file it is (.mkv), (.avi) (.mp4) etc
I think the only way to avoid having it described as VLC media file is not setting VLC as default program to open that kind of files and choosing it manually every time you want to play one (so not very practical )
