HELP: subtitles sometimes cover whole movie

Postby andwan0 » 13 Apr 2018 18:35

Previous versions to 3.0.1 Vetinari were perfect. Subtitles were fine.
I sometimes use English/latin subtitles, and some other times Chinese subtitles (encoded in UTF-8). I always play my series/movies at 90% speed using the shortcut key [ to slow it down by 10%.

Now in 3.0.1 Vetinari, sometimes the subtitles would fill the whole window.
Please take a look at my imgur uploads.

Am not sure what has changed in VLC, but this never happened before.

Check the logs in VLC menu: Tools > Messages > Verbosity=2(debug). Try to reset preferences for default settings.

:!: If you want your problem to be solved :
* First read troubleshooting guide VSG:Main
* Always provide verbose LOGS ! (command line or from gui)
* Always check your issue against a developer build from Nightly Build of VLC
* Tell us when your problem is solved !

I think you can reproduce just by setting the font to large. Set playback speed to 90% using [ default shortcut key.
Skip time to middle point, then press shift+left arrow a few times to rewind. Maybe press space to pause just after someone says something. Then unpause.

I can always reproduce this way.

In meantime i ll try and find a small video file or even trim cut the tv series and mega upload for u to test.

What do you mean ? Happens once on seek, otherwise does not happen on normal playback ?
